Digital Humanities Seminar 3: DH in Society by Visiting Librarian, Glen Worthey In-Person

UCT Libraries, in conjunction with Stanford University, is excited to host a series of Digital Humanities Seminars from 23rd - 25th January 2016 with guest speaker, Glen Worthey, Digital Humanities Librarian at Stanford University Libraries. Glen is a member of Humanities Text Services (hText) and head of the Digital Initiatives Group (DIG). In the big, wide DH world, he is a member of the executive boards of the Text Encoding Initiative (TEI) Consortium and of the Association for Computers and the Humanities (ACH), as well as deputy secretary of the Steering Committee of the Alliance of Digital Humanities Organizations (ADHO). He was one of the local hosts of the Digital Humanities 2011 conference at Stanford. He is in South Africa to attend the Digital Humanities Association of Southern Africa (DHASA) inaugural conference in Stellenbosch.

There are three sessions:

Monday 23rd Jan 2017:   DH Histories and Institutions, presenting the work of the Stanford DH Institutions including the Center for Interdisciplinary Digital Research.  

Tuesday 24th Jan 2017:   DH in the Library in which the role of the librarian in DH will be explored and collaboration with a number of key role players and services discussed

Wednesday 25th Jan 2017:   DH in Society which will look at the professional DH and Digital Library Societies, publications, and communities of practice, amongst others.
