Winter Series Session: Digital Literacy In-Person

Being an educated and active citizen in the contemporary context means, among other things, being able to effectively use online spaces and interact in online environments while understanding the implications of such activities. Libraries are uniquely placed to teach and support student and staff users in acquiring the digital literacies they need to engage with online materials and in online spaces. However, the role libraries play in such spaces is emergent and context dependent. This workshop provides library staff with an opportunity to engage with each other around the issue of digital literacies, to begin to develop common understandings of the contested aspects of this field, and to consider the particular ways that libraries users in the local context may need to support to develop their digital literacies.
