Research Impact and Research Identifiers In-Person

The starting point for assessing your research impact is to make sure your work is correctly attributed to you across all different platforms. This helps to raise your visibility and ensures you are not mistaken for other researchers with the same name.

A research ID is a unique ID / number which distinguishes you from other researchers: Increasingly journals, funders, publishers and institutions require a unique ID. For example, the NRF requires all researchers and students applying for funding and rating to have a ORCID ID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) and a Google Scholar Research Profile. Keeping your research profile visible and up to date ensures that you are more discoverable and get full credit for your work. This hands-on workshop will introduce the following: Scopus Author ID, Web of Science ResearcherID, ORCID and Google Scholar Research Profile.
