Digital Scholar Series: Where is Digital Humanities?

Digital Scholar Series: Where is Digital Humanities?

About the Session

This presentation introduces Digital Humanities, seeking to identify its various approaches and diverse elements of practice. Using Achille Mbembe's assertion that "The Internet is Afropolitan" it also begins to contextualize Digital Humanities within the South African perspective, while also challenging the libraries to become the site of encounter between humanities and digital technologies for future projects. This talk focuses on the intersection between digital technologies and humanities research. How can the two fields help each other in developing new forms of research as well as serving as a tool for critical analysis. All those involved in research and research support are welcome.
