Open Data Day 2021 @ UCT Online
Digital Library Services will be hosting a virtual Open Data Day event on Friday, the 5th of March.
It will be a smorgasbord of lightning talks covering a wide range of topics relating to the benefits and advantages of Open Data usage, practice and publication. Our opening speaker this year will be Prof Barry Dwolatzky (see: A Software Engineer in Africa). Other invited speakers include Neil Horn (City of Cape Town), Paul Plantinga (HSRC), Tiyani Nghonyama (Geek Kulcha), Stuart Martin (ESRI South Africa), Dr Louise Bezuidenhout (Dept. of Information Systems, UCT), Richard Gevers (Open Cities Lab), Jayne Batzofin (Centre for Theatre, Dance and Performance studies, UCT), Kyle Findlay (Superlinear), Dr Sanjin Muftic (Digital Scholarship at DLS) and Thandokazi Maceba (Data Curation at DLS).
To get a feeling for how varied and exciting the programmes have been so far, you can openly access the presentations and programmes of the previous Open Data Days hosted by DLS here:
