Seat Booking Information

Computers at the Vincent Kolbe Knowledge Commons can be booked for a maximum of 4 hours per day. This is to ensure equal access due to limited computers available.

You can check in 5 minutes before your booking start time

Please ensure that you leave promptly at the end of your time slot.

Your booking will be automatically cancelled after 15 minutes if you have not checked in.

 

The popular Vincent Kolbe Knowledge Commons, with it's high end computing, printing, copying and scanning facilities, is one-stop-shop where undergraduates can research, write up, and print out their assignments and essays.

1. Select a green available slot

The booking slot will change from green to yellow for the period selected (this is a temporary hold; the booking will be released after 3 minutes if you have not booked it by then). You can change the date by using the Go to Date or using the arrows. You can only view seat availability two weeks in advance.

 

2. Your booking will turn yellow and the slot will show at the button of the page

The default booking time is 2-hours, change your booking time using the drop-down arrows, i.e. if you would like to book for 1 hour instead of 2. You can book up to 4 hours, which do not have to be consecutive hours. Select the trash can to delete the booking.

 

3. The info button shows seat information.

The seats are colour coded according to carrel i.e. CARREL 1: KC01 - KC06 is Orange

5. Read the Terms and conditions and select. Please ensure that you have read everything.

 

6. Fill in the booking form.

The personal information you provide on this form is being collected under the authority of the Protection of Personal Information Act of 2013. This information will be used to book library study rooms. If you have any questions about the collection and use of this information, please contact UCT Libraries.

 

7. Confirmation email with check in code.

The email will contain the booking information, directions as well as the check in code and check out link if you finish early.

 

8.Add the ical link to your outlook or google calendar.

 

9. Scan the QR code at the Desk or computer and put in the check in code from your confirmation email.

Bookings between 08h00 - 20h00 are limited to a maximum 4 hours per person per day, which do not have to be consecutive hours.

Bookings are not required between 20h00 - 08h00

If your seat is unoccupied for 15 minutes your booking will be cancelled – e.g. If you have a 4-hour slot and leave for an hour, the remainder of your booking will be cancelled.
